By

ASUS doesn’t seem content to release amazing products to just enthusiasts, they are now preparing a new AMD Radeon HD 7850 design which has been designated the Dragon Edition. The card (DRAGON HD7850-DC2O-2GD5) has a Core clock of 910 Mhz, meanwhile the 2GB of GDDR5 memory will be clocked at 1250 MHz (5000 MHz effective). While this particular model is also a DirectCU II variant, it certainly can’t be called more of the same. ASUS has changed the cooler, instead of using 2 heatsinks which are connected via heatpipes they will instead use just one heatsink that uses external heatpipes. Cooling of the new aluminum fin heatsink is provided by dual 80mm fans. Let’s not forget this will also be the first 7850 from ASUS that includes a backplate, something which wasnt included on the TOP variant. The PCB is also getting an overhaul, having been modified to use ASUS’s Supper Alloy Power technology for its 6+3 phase VRM. Display connectivity will consist of DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI and of course DisplayPort. Currently no information is available as to when the model will be released worldwide, however the ASUS Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II Dragon Edition is available in China for $361.
