Left 4 Dead

Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, L4D offers four expansive “movie campaigns” that challenge you and your fellow survivors to battle thousands of swarming zombies as you travel across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests. In addition to the movie campaigns, Left 4 Dead features a Versus mode that allows you to play as the Boss Zombies.

New technology dubbed “the AI Director” is used to generate a unique gameplay experience every time you play. The Director tailors the frequency and ferocity of the zombie attacks to your performance, adjusting pacing, special effects and audio on the fly.

Left 4 Dead

To test out the ASUS N81Vp platform the game was set to run at 1366×768 with not one, but three different image quality profiles. You can see the exact settings we used for medium, high, and very high by following the hyperlinks (very high is shown in the screen shot shown above). It should be noted that for ‘very high’ all the of the settings were maxed out including AA and AF!

Left 4 Dead Benchmark Results

Results: The ASUS N81Vp is a monster when it comes to gaming performance and easily played the popular first person shooter Left 4 Dead with the highest image quality settings possible. With the image quality settings maxed out at a resolution of 1366×768 the game play was smooth even when the horde was alerted and chasing after you which is very impressive since the system was running 8xMSAA and 16xAF. The ATI Radeon Mobility 4650 with CATALYST 8.11 drivers proved itself worthy to be in this system!
