We were a bit disappointed to hear that ASUS wouldn’t be coming out with a Mini-ITX Deluxe board for the Intel Z97 chipset series, but our friends at ASUS told us not to worry as an ROG board would be sitting at the top of the product stack. Today, ASUS unveiled some images of the ASUS Maximus VII Impact, which is their flagship mini-ITX board for the Z97 series. Not too much is known on this board just yet, but we know it is coming in Q3 and should be a killer board that was designed to work with Intel Devil’s Canyon processors and be LN2 cooled. In fact, ASUS claims that this is the first and only mini-ITX Z97 motherboard that supports LN2!

ASUS today announced some of the key features of the board and that it will include five exclusively designed vertical daughterboards that provide power, sound, fan control, WiFi/SSD, ROG IO buttons. Here is what has been announced so far:

  • mPCIe Combo IV card with 802.11ac and M.2 (up to PCIe 4x M.2 SSDs supported)
  • Intel GigE+LANGuard+GameFirst III
  • SupremeFX Impact II Card: Sonic SenseAMP, Sonic SoundStage, Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar II
  • Impact Control II Card: KeyBot + SoundStage buttons
  • Impact CoolHub Card: 2x 4pin fan headers + LN2 mode switch
  • ROG UEFI BIOS Enhancements, including Secure Erase.
