ASUS Eee PC X101 MeeGo Netbook Coming in July For $199

By

ASUS showed off their ultra portable netbook running the MeeGo OS called the Eee PC X101 at Computex 2011 just a few weeks ago and now it appears the company will be releasing it to the public next month. The Asus Eee PC X101 features a 10-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, processing is provided by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom Oak Trail processor, and there is also Intel GMA 600 graphics. The best part of this notebook though is the fact that it weighs just 950g and is a mere 17.6mm thick! Will this be giving the 11-inch MacBook Air a run for its money?

Asustek Computer will start marketing its low-priced netbook, the Eee PC X101, in July with models running on MeeGo available at US$199 and those running on Windows 7 available at US$310-350, according to industry sources. The Eee PC X101 is powered by an Intel low-power Atom N435 1.33GHz single-core CPU, the sources noted. Other branded notebook vendors including Acer, Lenovo and Samsung Electronics also plan to launch Atom N435/MeeGo-based netbooks soon, said the sources, noting that the Atom 435 netbooks released by Asustek and Acer will also support Intel’s AppUp Center technology.
