ASUS Eee Pad EP121 Tablet PC To Be Announced At CES 2011

Asustek Computer is set to announce its 12-inch Eee Pad EP121 tablet PC featuring an Intel Core i5 processor with Windows 7 at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 and will start selling in the channel in late January 2011, according to market watchers.

The market watchers believe the version of Windows 7 that the EP121 adopts should be modified by Microsoft for use on tablet PCs. Since the device is using Intel’s Core i5 processor, the market watchers believe the machines will target the high-end enterprise market. Asustek CEO Jerry Shen previously revealed that the EP121 will be priced about US$1,000. In addition, the EP121 also supports multi-touch capability and stylus input as well as HDMI, USB and SD card ports, and a webcam. The device will also feature document processing software such as Word, Excel and Outlook, according Asustek marketing materials. Asustek is also set to showcase a 7-inch and two 10-inch Eee Pads at CES 2011. One 10-inch Eee Pad features Windows 7 with Intel’s Oak Trail platform, while the other features Nvidia’s Tegra 2 with Google Android.
