ASUS Announces New Transformer Chi Series 2 in 1
Legit Reviews was among the limited number of Press that was invited to their Press Conference in Las Vegas the day before the Consumer Electronics Show. While we were there ASUS announce a couple of new products, which I’ll admit that I’m personally pretty excited about!
The main speaker at the event was Jonney Shih, the ASUS Chairman. Though he also had Kirk B. Skaugen for a short time discussing the partnership with Intel. During the introduction of the press conference, Jonney Shih discussed the goal of building “The Ultimate Dream Machine”.
The first of the announcements from ASUS was the new ASUS Transformer Book Chi series! The Transforme Book Chi series is the next evolution of the ASUS 2-in-1
The flagship Transformer Book in the Chi series is the T300 Chi. The T300 Chi is a 12.5″ tablet measuring only 7.6mm thin and weighing only 720 grams! At the heart of the T300 is the all new Intel Core M processor. The T300 Chi will have a couple of different options when it hits the market, the display on the T300 can be either a WQHD 2560×1440, or a Full HD IPS Display. There will also be different options for the RAM, you will be able to get either 4GB or 8GB depending on your needs. If you’re worried about storage, there’s no need! The ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi comes with a 128GB SSD installed!
The middle of the road in the Chi series is the T100 Chi. The T100 Chi is a little bit smaller, measuring 10.1″ and only 7.2mm thin. The T100 Chi features a Quad-core Intel Atom processor, a 1920×1200 IPS display, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage built in. Battery life won’t be an issue with the T100 Chi, as it is rated for up to 10 hours.
The ASUS Transformer T90 Chi is the most budget friendly version of the new Chi series. The T90 Chi is a 8.9″ tablet but it’s actually a touch heavier than the T300 Chi at 750 grams vs 720 grams. The T90 Chi features a Quad-core Intel Atom Processor, 1280×800 WXGA display, 2GB of RAM, and either 32 or 64GB of storage.
I think the best (and most shocking) reveal about the Transformer Chi is the price range! The entry level T90 Chi starts at only $299! The T100 Chi which is a little bit larger with and starts with 64GB of storage is only $399! The flagship T300 Chi which packs a lot of power under the hood is starting at only $699! When the prices of the Chi series were revealed, especially the T300 price, the room was in shock!
ASUS had also launched their ASUS ZenFone 2 at the press conference. The first 13 minutes of the press conference video above discuss the new Chi Series of 2 in 1’s, the remainder of the conference was dedicated to the new ZenFone 2! The ZenFone 2 is a pretty slick machine. The new ZenFone 2’s feature a Full HD IPS display panel and a variety of exterior colors and designs! It’s the first to support memory in a dual channel architecture! At the heart of the ASUS ZenFone 2 is an Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor!
The ZenFone Zoom is the worlds thinnest 3X Optical Zoom Smartphone! The ZenFone Zoom measures only 11.95 mm thick, for those of us that don’t use metric, that’s only .47 inches thick! When taking pictures the ZenFone Zoom features a laser auto focus, Optical Image stabilizer, and innovative 10 element lenses.
The prices may be one of the greatest features of the new ASUS ZenFone’s. The ZenFone 2 is going to be available in March starting at only $199! If you’re looking forward to the ZenFone Zoom, it will be available in Q2 with MSRP of only $399.
