Apple Watch Rumored to get Sleep Tracking

Apple is ahead of the game with its wearable, the Apple Watch, and behind in others. It’s ahead with EKG tracking capability that other wearables lack. However, it is behind in more basic features like sleep tracking that has been on some wearables for many months.

A new rumor is going around that Apple will finally integrate sleep tracking into its wearable device. Apple has reportedly been testing the sleep monitoring feature for several months, and the feature could come to the wearable by 2020. For that to happen people familiar with the project say that functionality tests would need to prove positive reports CNET.

While the Apple Watch lacks an integrated sleep tracker, there are third-party apps that turn the wearable into a tracker. Sleep tracking tech keeps an eye on how many hours you sleep per night, how long the wearer is in REM cycle sleep, and if they frequently move when sleeping.

Apple has been granted FCC approval for a sleep tracker, presumably to be integrated into the next Apple Watch. The approval noted that Beddit designed the sleep tracker; Apple bought Beddit in 2017.
