Apple Reveals iPhone 4 Antenna Repair Plans – Free Case For All

By

Apple has remained tight-lipped about its plans for today’s press conference that deals with the iPhone 4 antenna problem. Right now many Apple iPhone4 owners report that if they hold the phone in a certain way you can get lower signal strength and even dropped calls. Consumer Reports also said that they would not recommend the iPhone. Shortly after that statement was made Apple called the emergency PR meeting that is taking place right now. A few analysts we talked to expected an iPhone 4 recall, but some also thought that Apple is planning to give away “bumpers” that mitigate the problem. During the press conference Steve Jobs showed that the Samsung Omnia II, BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the Droid Eris all suffer from signal strength issues when held with your left hand. Mr. Jobs said that he could have gone on and on as most smartphones take a hit exactly the same way. These were all tested in areas of relatively weak signal strength. This is life in the smartphone world. Phones aren’t perfect. It’s a challenge for the whole industry. Every phone has weak spots. Mr. Jobs then said that their option was to put in the correct algorithm to calculate bars, which theyve fixed with OS 4.0.1. Steve Jobs then went on to say that 0.55% of iPhone 4 users have contacted AppleCare about an antenna issue. Steve then went on to say that the iPhone 4 drops less than one additional call per 100 than the iPhone 3GS. His solution for this is to send a free case for anyone that has bought an iPhone 4! If you bought a bumper then you are eligible for a full refund of that bumper purchase. Apple will start shipping the free cases at the end of the month.
