Apple patents anti-sexting technology

Parents are ever vigilant about what their kids see and hear on TV, in movies and on the computer. Once they leave their house with cell phone in hand however, that control and oversight evaporates. Apple aims to change that with technology that would censor texts based on user selected criteria. Their methodology isn’t exactly clear but we see net users circumvent filters all the time with leet-speak and other masked communication so its effectiveness is questionable.

If words turn you on, then the approval of Apple’s patent to control text messaging may turn you off. Apple may decide to eventually implement this technology for its smart phones, tablets and other communication devices, and if it does, then it could mean the end of sexting and the beginning of messaging controlled by filters, blocking content depending on the user’s criteria.
