Apple iPad Event Announced and Rumors Suggest Move to USB-C Port
One of the things that annoy users of the current iPad Pro tablets is Apple’s continued insistence on using the proprietary Lightning port. Apple has sent out invites for an event that will happen this month and is expected to be for the launch of new iPad Pros. A rumor is making the rounds that suggest the new iPad Pro tablets will move away from Lightning ports to USB-C ports.
The rumor comes from a Japanese publication called Mac Otakara reports Apple Insider. According to the Japanese publications, talks it had with accessory makers at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics trade show in Hong Kong suggest that the USB-C connector will come to the iPad Pro.
This rumor goes along with another from earlier this year from noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who also wrote that Apple would move to a USB-C port on the tablets. Tidbits in Apple iOS 12.1 beta also hinted at USB-C as output to 4K resolution monitors were tipped.
Current Apple accessories cant support high-resolution suggesting that a change in protocols to USB-C was coming. Other rumors claim that Apple will focus on the creative capability of the new tablet when it launches. The Apple event is to be held October 30.
