AMD Turion 64 X2 CPUs Coming on May 9th For Notebooks
Notebook makers in Taiwan predict that AMD’s first batch of dual-core Turion 64 mobile processors, which will reportedly be released on May 9, may start a price war in the dual-core notebook market sooner than expected. AMD is expected to offer better prices for its Turion 64 X2 CPU line than comparable offerings from Intel.
On May 9th, AMD is poised to announce an enitre family of new Turion X2 64 processors. According to datasheets, AMD will be releasing seven different flavors of Turions with the entry-level unit starting at 1.6GHz and the flagship topping out at 2.2GHz with 2MB of L2 cache. The new CPUs will also come in low-voltage flavors for the mobile market, in which the new CPUs will be directly competing with Intel’s Core Duo mobile processors.
