AMD Ryzen Threadripper Runs Blender Benchmark At Computex
The AMD Ryzen Threadripper is the highest performance processor that AMD has for the consumer market and it has up to 16-cores and 32-threads. That is twice as many cores as Ryzen 7 had when it debuted in February 2017. AMD Ryzen Threadripper looks pretty good on paper with suppot for 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes and quad-channel DDR4 memory.
AMD ran a blender demo on an AMD Ryzen Threadripper and the 16-core, 32-thread processor finished the custom AMD project (RyzenGraphic_27.blend) in 13.04 Seconds. The AMD Ryzen 7 8-core processor can run that same workload in roughly 36 seconds, so AMD Ryzen Threadripper is basically three times as fast as the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X processor. The AMD Ryzen 7 1800X has a 3.6 GHz Clock Speed with a 4.00 GHz Boost clock, so it will be interesting to learn the clock speeds of the flagship Threadripper processor.
