Far Cry 5 Gaming Performance at 1080P

Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto and published by parent company Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series. It was released on March 27, 2018.

FarCry5 Benchmark

We will be using the built-in benchmark of Far Cry 5 to test performance on these desktop platforms to see which one games better.

Far Cry 5 Settings

We tested with the ‘Normal’ graphics quality preset with V-Sync disabled on both platforms.

Benchmark Results: Far Cry 5 gaming performance with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2900WX is flat out horrible when you run it at default settings (creator mode). The good news is when you open AMD Ryzen Master and set it to Gamer Mode the performance is very respectable on par with the other processors. This is not a gaming processor, but you can most certainly game on it with ease. Game mode only enables one die, so there are only eight active physical cores in this mode. Running just 1/4 of the processor sounds silly, but it makes all the difference when it comes to gaming performance.
