AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series “Pitcairn” Specifications Surface

By

AMD’s plan to launch the Radeon HD 7800 series is on track for March. They are looking to finish the launches of their entire Radeon 7000 series before NVIDIA can manage to launch any of its own GPUs. The Radeon HD 7800 series is expected to fill the sub-$300 market segment, the so called “sweet spot” for price/performance gamers. The “Pitcairn” SKUs come in three flavors: the Radeon HD 7870, Radeon HD 7850 2 GB, and Radeon HD 7850 1 GB. There is also a rumor that AMD will launch a 7890 SKU based on the Tahiti core should the need arise.
