Back in June 2012 we posted up a press release about how AMD signed a contract to be the ‘Tech Partner’ of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. It appears that AMD is holding one of the companies first sponsored events at theAMD Fast Pitch PC Zone on Sunday, September 9th at AT&T Park. Fans attending this special event from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm local time, prior to Dodgers vs. Giants game scheduled to begin at 5:05 pm local time will receive a free AMD A8-3870K ‘Llano’ accelerated processing unit (APU). The first 600 fans who purchase special event tickets to the game will get an APU and the tickets start at $55.00 for left field. Not a bad deal for a processor that retails for around $110 online and you get to watch a baseball game!

What is the AMD Fast Pitch PC Zone? Im glad you asked. Its really a first of its kind event to be hosted in conjunction with a Major League Baseball game. Thanks to our technology partnership with the Giants, we are able to showcase not only the capabilities of the AMD APU but also give fans an interactive PC building experience with some industry experts such as Anand Shimpi, founder of AnandTech.com and Patrick Moorhead, president of Moor Insights and Strategy. We will also have some of the latest GPU-accelerated applications running for you to check out as well. This event runs from 3pm-5pm pacific and after its over, you go grab your seat in the AMD Fast Pitch section and go enjoy the game. Pretty good deal right? But wait, theres more. Every fan purchasing a special event ticket to the AMD Fast Pitch PC Zone walks out of there with an AMD A8-3870K APU for free.
