AMD FX-8300 Vishera ‘Piledriver’ 8-Core CPU Benchmarked
It appears that someone over on the Coolaler forums have gotten their hands on an Engineering Sample of AMD’s upcoming Piledriver FX-8300 series processor (Vishera) that has eight physical processor cores. AMD is reportedly working on three processors for the FX-8300 series, FX 8300, FX 8320, and the FX 8350. These are unlocked CPUs and the FX 8300 runs at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz while the FX 8320 runs at a base frequency of 3.5 GHz with a 4.0 GHz Turbo option. The mighty FX 8350 has a base clock of 4.0 GHz and a Turbo Core of 4.2 GHz. The new models use the long-awaited Piledriver enhanced x86 core and 8MB of level 3 cache. We aren’t sure exactly which CPU is being shown off in the Coolaler forums, but CPU-Z shows it being 124W TDP, so it has to be the FX8320 or FX8350 as the FX8300 is a 95W TDP part. The processor scored 18705 CPU Marks in 3DMark Vantage, 24m 20.946s in Super Pi 32M, and 5.73 points in the CPU test of CineBench R11.5.
