AMD Announces That Cheaper Overclocked Radeon HD 6870’s Are Coming

By

AMD just sent us an e-mail letting us know that overclocked Radeon HD 6870 video cards are coming out shortly. Prices will range between USD $229 to $259 SEP depending on partner SKU. AMD says that they know about three cards that are certain to come out very soon and we have them bullet listed below. You can run out there and buy overclocked Radeon HD 6870 video cards right now, but the highest clock speed is 940MHz and they cost more than this. This means that it looks like a price cut is coming just in time for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 to be released next week. The Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 Toxic is clocked at 975MHz and is faster than any card on the market today, so that should make things interesting. AMD also has new overclocked SKUs of the AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB that will be available at around USD$269-$279 SEP beginning mid-February.
