Over the holiday weekend it appears that AMD A-Series APUs have successfully made it into the retail channel. The AMD A6-3650 and A8-3850 are the only two A-Series APUs available right now and they are both based on the Llano core architecture.

  • AMD A6-3650 Llano 2.6GHz APU – AD3650WNGXBOX – $119.99 Shipped
  • AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz APU – AD3850WNGXBOX –$139.99 Shipped

Both of the available processors are 100W models, but they differ in both CPU and GPU core clock speeds. We reviewed the AMD A8-3850 APU last week and found it to be a very solid processor that had amazing graphics performance thanks to the AMD Radeon HD 6550D GPU used on the APU. AMD sells these processors to retailers in 1000-unit tray quantities at $115 for the A6-3650 and $135 for the A8-3850. As you can see there is a slight price markup on these processors, but not too terrible for just being launched.
