Alan Wake PC Earns Back Development & Marketing Cost In 48 Hours

On multiple occasions PC gaming has been declared dead, but Remedy’s Alan Wake has given those doubters a nice slap to the face. The PC release has completely earned back all development and marketing costs of the game’s venture to the PC platform in just 48 hours on Steam, where Alan Wake was the best selling game last weekend. This has shown that PC gamers are willing to support (not pirate) high-quality original IPs. “We made it a priority to create the best PC version of the game we possibly could, as opposed to a sloppy port we ourselves would hate to play, and judging by the amount of encouragement and positive feedback that has been pouring in, that’s really paid off!” said CEO Matias Myllyrinne in his thank you note to the game’s fans. Remedy’s success with Alan Wake will hopefully help sway more developers and publishers alike to reconsider the PC platform for their games. Alan Wake is available on Steam for $29.99.

The company proclaimed today that its highly-rated $29.99 self-published port of the psychological thriller Alan Wake was the number one selling game on Steam last weekend, and, more importantly, that it recouped its entire development and marketing expenses for the port within 48 hours of its release on the 16th.
