Air New Zealand To Offer ‘Cuddle Class’ Seats For Couples

By

Air New Zealand will be releasing new seats on select flights that called “Skycouches,” that are aimed to please couples who want some extra room, or families with small children. The seats can simply turn into couches or beds. The service starts in April 2011 and you can take a peek at what the seats will be like in this promotional video of the new Skycouch. I have a feeling the mile high club list is going to get a little bigger thanks to Skycouch.

Whether youre a couple whod like a bit of extra room, parent with a young child or a parent with two restless kids, youll find our innovative new Economy Skycouch is the perfect solution. The Economy Skycouch will be available on our new 777-300 aircraft and will be flying on selected services to and from London (via LA) from April 2011. It will be progressively rolled out until completed in 2012. The Skycouch is a trio of three Economy seats that together create a flexible space for whatever you want it to be – an area to relax and stretch out in, or for the kids to use as a play area. Its like having your very own couch on the plane. The seats themselves are our Economy seats with armrests that disappear into the back of the seat. Theres also a cup holder, a trinket tray, a winged headrest and a sleep pillow on every seat. What makes the Skycouch different to other Economy seats is the way the trio of seats transform. With a touch of a button, a footrest will come out from under each of the three seats which you can pull up to create a flat, flexible space for you to use however you like. By booking this three-wide seat space, you really can get the most from your long-haul flying experience.
