AGEIA Finds Another Delay in Launching Their PhysX Card
It seems that some of AGEIA’s key partners, such as Asus, has decided to postpone retail cards until Q1 2006 since no games can take advantage of the Physics Processing Unit (PPU). AGEIA has had cards ready since May of 2005, but the industry hasn’t been in a rush to take advantage of their technology.
The cards have been ready since May 2005, and we saw one at E3 2005 but apart from a few demos there was no single game that was using this very interesting piece of hardware. It’s all about content and AGEIA is sure missing some. The company that brought the idea about Physics processing unit (PPU) missed some guidelines. You can forget about these cards before Yule it will most likely be February, if not later, but the company remains quiet about any future plans.
