ACER Predator X34 3440×1440 Curved G-Sync Gaming Display Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
If you are a PC gamer and are looking to try out a ultra wide screen display the Acer Predator X34 Curved IPS G-Sync gaming monitor has pretty much all the features that you would want or need here as we enter 2016. A massive 34-inch curved ultrawide display running 21:9 at 3440×1440, IPS panel, NVIDIA G-Sync and a 100Hz refresh rate are the key features that have really gotten the attention of gamers around the world and is why this monitor is sold out despite costing $1290 before shipping costs. G-Sync is certainly a feature that you need to see in person and use to understand how it benefits you, but once you experience it you won’t want to go back from it. The Ultra Widescreen 3440×1440 21:9 format also gives you tons of desktop space and could allow for owners of two 1080P displays to easily go with a single display solution without too much fuss. The curved screens curvature is minimal, but it is noticeable when you are sitting in front of the panel.
We’ve heard and seen some people reporting buzzing noises, dead pixels and other weird issues with this display, but we haven’t experienced any of those. We also didn’t have any issues overclocking our unit to 100Hz without any major stability issues besides the occasional scan line being seen. If we lowered the OC to 95Hz we had a perfect gaming experience with our NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card that was being used in the test system. It should be noted that our Predator X34 review sample came direct from Acer and the retail box along with the inner packaging had been opened up. We suspect that our display was apparently spot checked before being sent to us. Our monitor did have the back light bleed and IPS glow that others have reported, but it didn’t bother us one bit during the daylight hours and we hardly noticed it at night when gaming.
If we had to talk about the negatives from this monitor it would be the terrible OSD solution and the fact that some games are challenging to get working in the 21:9 format if they don’t support it out of the box. Even with those negatives the Acer Predator X34 is a gorgeous curved IPS gaming display that is certainly our favorite gaming monitor for 2015.
When it comes to pricing the Acer Predator X34 is $1299.00 plus $6.99 shipping from Newegg. It’s often sold out, but is usually back in-stock every week as the weekly shipments are moving that quickly. The Predator X34 is covered by a 3-year warranty on parts, labor, and the backlight.
Legit Bottom Line: The Acer Predator X34 with NVIDIA G-Sync Technology offers a heavenly gaming experience for those that can swallow the rather expensive price tag.
