Finally! iPhone Arrives on Verizon

By

Ending months of speculation, Verizon has announced that it will begin selling a special version of Apples iPhone 4 early next month. Apple had to create a brand new version of the popular Apple iPhone 4 since the Verizon network uses CDMA technology as opposed to AT&Ts GSM technology used in every other iPhone version. Apple and Verizon says that the Verizion iPhone will be available for pre-order on February 3 for existing Verizon customers and for all others February 10. Pricing for the 16 gigabyte version of the phone will cost $199 with a 2-year contract, while the 32 GB version will cost $299 which is the same as AT&Ts pricing. Data plans have not been announced.

The lack of 4G means the Verizon iPhone will have much slower data speeds than AT&T’s, at least in the areas where AT&T has upgraded its 3G network. AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel was quick to point this out, along with the fact that users won’t be able to surf and talk at the same time on the Verizon iPhone. International roaming will also be very limited compared with the AT&T version.
