By

Logitech has reportedly informed Gigabyte Technology to temporarily suspend shipments of Revue set-top boxes (STBs) for the period from December 2010 to January 2011 waiting for Google to complete updates or to launch a new version of its software for Google TV, according to industry sources. Market watchers had originally estimated that shipments of Revue STBs would top 500,000 units by the end of 2010, and including STBs shipped by Sony, sales of Google TVs were expected to top one million units initially.

Component suppliers in Taiwan expect Google to unveil Android 3.0 in the second half of February or March 2011 at the earliest, and related supporting suppliers will then resume shipments. Gigabyte is expected to see revenues generated by its networking business unit in December and January affect by the temporary suspension, the sources asserted. Gigabyte declined to comment.
