United States Homeland Security Seizes 75 Domain Names

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak. The site goes on to say that they sites were seized without any need for COICA and that ICE has seized the domains of 75 sites. The sites include a BitTorrent meta-search engine along with music linking sites and several others which appear to be connected to name brand counterfeit goods.

A spokeswoman for ICE confirmed the seizures in the following statement. ICE office of Homeland Security Investigations executed court-ordered seizure warrants against a number of domain names. As this is an ongoing investigation, there are no additional details available at this time.
