Although a China telecommunications company is currently denying the claim, evidence has been presented to the U.S. Congress that for 18 minutes in April, roughly 15% of all net traffic was re-routed via China servers. Among the sites impacted were the US Senate, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Nasa and the U.S. Commerce Department. It’s not clear yet if this was intentional or not.

The allegation surfaced in a report presented to the US Congress which said that for 18 minutes the traffic was redirected to Chinese servers. But in an official statement China Telecom “denied any hijack of internet traffic”. So far the Chinese government has declined to comment on the allegations.
