By

We are at the very first annual Global Technology Conference (GTC) by GLOBALFOUNDRIES and we got a bit of a suprise this morning. AMD’s Chekib Akrout, showed the die shot of AMD’s upcoming Orochi core for one of their Bulldozer ‘Fusion’ desktop processors. The die can be seen below and while we don’t know much about it yet. What we do know about Orochi is that it is part of the Bulldozer family and will be the second 32nm product from AMD after the Llano Fusion core is released. A quick google or wikipedia search reveals some interesting details on it.

The BitFenix Colossus

Bulldozer is revealed to be two integer cores capable of processing integers and one floating point unit (FPU). This will be seen by the OS as two cores and all of AMD’s new 2011, 32 nm high-end desktop and server parts will be built on it, including Zambezi and Orochi for the desktop and Interlagos and Valencia for the server market.
