CES 2009: ASUS – Innovation Inspired by Consumers

By

The Next Eee Family

ASUS has proved to be one of the largest companies in the industry with $22.2 billion in revenue in 2007. This is in large part due to the high Eee PC sales since ASUS was ranked #5 in total portable PC shipments world-wide! Given today’s announcements of the newest editions to their Eee Product family and other portable, innovative solutions that were inspired by consumer feedback, I’d say ASUS is headed in the right direction. This is how products like the U6V Bamboo notebook, soy keyboard, and solar-powered notebooks become a reality.

ASUS has created some new innovative products to expand their Eee brand. One of the most intriguing is the Eee Keyboard. The Eee Keyboard is a fully functional PC that features Ultra Wideband HDMI. So this device can be used to stream HD content to a properly equipped HDTV.

ASUS has plans for the Eee Keyboard to be used anywhere in the home. However, the obvious benefit would be to utilize the Eee Keyboard from the comfort of your living room or bedroom to stream HD content to your HDTV.

There is a touchscreen LCD embedded in the Eee Keyboard to provide you with an easy way to access programs. The Eee Keyboard has built in WiFi 802.11b/g/n, speaker, microphone and ethernet. You can also connect the Eee Keyboard to any monitor via VGA or HDMI.

Besides using the 5″ touchscreen to choose shortcuts or programs, it also doubles as a trackpad to move your mouse cursor.

Weighing in at less than 2 pounds, the Eee Keyboard is also very mobile and you could take it with you between the home and office as you prepare that big presentation for work! Then you can plug in the keyboard to the projector in your meeting room. The transportation should not be an issue with the shock proof solid state design.

This is not all that ASUS has shown us so far; the Eee Top and futuristic Folding PC also offer some solid promise.
