LAN Gaming Still Alive in St. Louis

Every weekend in numerous cities across the United States groups of gamers get together to share their love of video games at LAN parties. Legit Reviews is located in St. Louis, Missouri and we heard that a local group of gamers was having a LAN party this weekend and headed down to take a look at how things were looking. We also couldn’t pass a chance of bringing some of the latest hardware to show off either, so we tossed together a quick system and loaded up the latest game titles to get in on the gaming action at the Warfactory LAN.

When we arrived at the LAN Party we found ourselves at the IT enterprises building, which we quickly found out is part of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The IT enterprises high performance computing facility just opened in the Spring of 2008 and is 56,300 square feet in size. What makes the building interesting is that 42,200 square feet are offered as rentable space and another 3,000 square feet is reserved for high performance computing. This brand new state-of-the-art facility was designed to house multiple startup companies in the technology industry, so this location helps both students and entrepreneurs.

Once inside the lobby we were greeted by the Warfactory staff and given a spot to setup at the BYOC area, but we had to roam around the building some as we never knew this was in our backyard.

Towards the center of the campus we a large glass server room that had all the event sponsor banners. The server room had just two rows of servers installed, but they brand new.

This glass enclosed server room makes up the High Performance Computing (HPC) Center that is housed at the facility. The racks looked empty, which is a too bad as everything was brand new and very nice looking.

A little more roaming and we managed to locate the phone and cable closet, which was picture worthy. We have seen some very ugly cable runs, but this one wasn’t half bad as you can tell from the picture above. The Warfactory LAN was held in an interesting place to say the least!
