By

Chris Morley over at MAINGEAR has spent several days playing around with some GeForce GTX 480 video cards and has been focusing on triple SLI or 3-Way SLI performance numbers since pretty much no reviewer got three GeForce GTX 480 for last weeks launch. The guys over at MAINGEAR obviously got at least three of them and they benchmarked them in the high-end Shift gaming PC that they would love to sell to anyone than can afford the $2500+ enthusiast system. The MAINGEAR Shift PC that they did the testing on sells for $5,897.00 if we configured it right! Read on to see the performance scaling of the GeForce GTX 480!

Yes, it plays Crysis. I think we can put that meme to bed. Instead of mixing settings, I maxed it out. Let’s punish these cards, eh? So with all Enthusiast settings and the resolution cranked, I wanted to see just what Fermi could do – with the end result seeing if 3-way would provide a good experience. It does – without anti-aliasing. It comes close with 4X, and does surprisingly well at 8X AA, but remember that there are more demanding parts in this game than this canned benchmark.
