Intel Gives LGA1156 Users An Unlocked Processor – Core i7-875K Leaked
It looks like motherboard maker Gigabyte has confirmed that the rumored unlocked Intel Core i7-875K Processor designed for enthusiasts and overclockers is true! This is great news for all those that own P55 motherboards and are interested in overclocking as the LGA1156 platform currently doesn’t have any unlocked processors available in that CPU series. We can’t wait to see the Intel Core i7-875K processor in person!
Rumor has it that this processor will be released at Computex 2010 and will be the first unlocked socket LGA1156 CPU. This means that this CPU will give end users full control over the processor frequency ratio for the best possible overclocking results. The TDP of this CPU is 95W and your board will need a bios update to work. The CPU will work at 2.93GHz, the same clock as the Intel Core i7 870, and the rest of the specification will be identical to Core i7 870. The only difference is that Core i7 875K processor will be completely unlocked when it comes to the base clock and the multiplier so it will be easier to overclock.
