Google Stops Censoring in China

Earlier this year, Google had been attacked by hackers initially thought to be from china(not much has been said about the incident for specifics) and what resulted was a political fiasco which forced Google to censor “politically sensitive” topics relating to the Chinese government. Today Google has closed its doors in China and all use is forwarded to the Hong Kong servers at google.com.hk so that it no longer would have to abide by the Chinese government’s strict policies about the internet.

Google has stopped censoring results in China, acting on a decision it made in January. Today, Google stopped censoring Google Search, Google News and Google Images on Google.cn, according to a blog post from Chief Legal Officer David Drummond.

“Users visiting Google.cn are now being redirected to Google.com.hk, where we are offering uncensored search in simplified Chinese, specifically designed for users in mainland China and delivered via our servers in Hong Kong,”
