Sony Warns of Data Loss and Freezing With PlayStation Network

By

Sony has warned PlayStation 3 users to “Do not use” after widespread problems with players who tried to log into the game consoles online service over the weekend. Error messages and data loss were reported after the calendar went from February 28, 2010 to March 1, 2010. Certain games like BioShock 2 that require users to be online and synchronized with Sonys PlayStation Network were affected as well. The newest PS3-Slim does not seem to be affected, and Sony is hoping to get the problem restored within 24-hours. Until then, you might just give your PS3 a break!

PS3 Firmware Update Warning

In an update posted to the company’s international Twitter feeds and official PlayStation blogs at roughly 9:15am PT, Sony wrote that it hopes to resolve an issue preventing gamers from playing games or connecting to its PlayStation Network, but advises that “you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality.”
