XFX Nvidia GTX 470 Fermi Video Card Available For Pre-Order at $499

Yesterday we reported that the XFX NVIDIA GTX 480 was available for pre-order at SabrePC for $679.99! It appears that SabrePC isn’t done posting up GF100 products for sale as they posted up a PNY GeForce GTX 480 graphics card for pre-order now as well. We just noticed this morning that they have an XFX GeForce GTX 470 now for pre-order at $479 with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. This is the very first GF100 ‘Fermi’ based GeForce GTX 470 video card that we have seen come up for pre-order. The official release date for the GeForce GTX 470 and 480 graphics cards is on March 26th.
NVIDIA has released little pieces of information about GF100 on social networking sites the past few months and here is what we have been able to figure out so far
- GF100 is the codename for the first GeForce GPU based on the Fermi architecture!
- GF in GF100 stands for Graphics Fermi not GeForce!
- The GF100 board is 10.5-inches long — the same length as GeForce GTX 200 Series graphics cards!
- GF100 packs in over 3B (billion!) transistors!
- The GF100 supports full hardware decode on the GPU for 3D Blu-Ray!
- GF100 graphics cards will provide hardware support for GPU overvoltaging for extreme overclocking!
- GF100 supports a brand new 32x anti-aliasing mode for ultra high-quality gaming!
- GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 will be the names of the first two GPUs shipped based on our new GF100 chip
