GFXChilla by Coolink – Better VGA Cooling

A couple weeks ago when the ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card came out the card proved itself to be a price versus performance winner, but we couldn’t ignore the high temperatures that it ran at. Our temperature testing showed that the Radeon HD 4850 ran at 85C at load, which was within specifications, but is too hot for us to ignore. When the Coolink GFXChilla GPU Cooler arrived to be reviewed we knew what video card that it would be used on without having to think about it. The Radeon HD 4850 that we just reviewed last month was going to get a cooler upgrade for improved cooling!

The Coolink GFXChilla was designed with easy installation and broad compatibility in mind and this review will show case both of those points. The fact that the GFXChilla was released in February 2008 and works on the Radeon HD 4850 graphics card tht came out in June of 2008 shows proves it does indeed have broad compatibility. The Coolink GFXChilla comes with everything needed to install the VGA cooler as well as small heat sinks that are to be used on the graphics memory ICs and the voltage regulation on the video card. Coolink even included a 3-pin to 4-pin molex adapter, so you can run power from the motherboard or power supply (don’t try to connect the fan to the video card). The instructions were clear and the mounting hardware was packaged in bags ready to be put to work.
