Consumer Reports’ Tests of HDTVs Show Quality Up & Prices Down

By

It seems that excuses for not buying that HDTV are running short. Advice from Consumer Reports after testing over 100 plasma, LCD, and rear-projection TVs for its March issue show some of the best picture quality in years overall. Consumers Reports also indicate that prices are down by almost 40% on some top models. This might be the time to start finally looking for your HDTV.

Consumer Reports notes that there are three major considerations when buying an HDTV: the type – LCD, plasma or rear-projection, the size of the screen, and whether it’s worth paying a premium to step up from 720p to 1080p resolution. CR recommends considering a 1080p model first, especially if price is not an issue.
