EA Drops Details on Plans for the Next Few Years
EA has for a long time, now had a new shooter of some sort that debuted each year. For 2020 there will be no “new” shooter with EA announcing that it will instead focus on the Respawn game Apex Legends in 2020. The next big new game from EA and Dice will be Battlefield 6, and it won’t land until 2021 or early 2022.
Part of the focus on Apex Legends will see the game expand to new platforms in 2020. Those platforms include mobile. EA also plans to get the game into China. EA notes that Respawn is “hyper-focused on Apex Legends, which has been a major star for EA.
EA didn’t have much to say for Titanfall fans other than to say that it hadn’t forgotten about Tianfall. However, EA hasn’t said anything about new content or a new Titanfall game.
EA’s CEO also says that he wants to give next-gen platforms time to build an install base. He specifically said “a strong two years growth” before launching the next Battlefield game reports Polygon. The assumption is that he is talking about the PS5 and the next Xbox.
