Last of Us Part II Delayed Until May 2020
Neil Druckmann, the director of The Last of Us Part II, has announced something that won’t make fans of the game happy. The game has been delayed, and the new release date is May 29, 2020. Druckmann says that he knows it was only a month ago that the devs had a “big blowout” for the game.
He says during the last few weeks as they were closing out sections of the game, the team realized that they didn’t have enough time to bring the game to the level of polish that was needed. He says there were two options, compromise parts of the game or delay launch.
He says that the team wishes they had seen the level of polish the game needed, but the size and scope of the game got the better of us. He does apologize for disappointing fans.
He wrote, “We hope you understand that this additional time ensures that The Last of Us Part II lives up to our collective ambition as well as our commitment to the highest level of quality. We know the extra few months will add to what may already be an excruciating wait for all of us. We are grateful for your patience and continued support. Come next May, you will finally rejoin Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.”
