Samsung Acknowledges S10 Fingerprint Scanner Flaw
The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a problem. Samsung has acknowledged that the fingerprint scanner can be fooled as easily as installing a cheap screen protector on the device. A woman from England first reported the issue.
The woman says that her husband was able to unlock her S10 with his thumb that wasn’t registered in the system. Samsung has stated that it will soon issue a software patch to address the problem reports BBC.
Samsung is based in South Korea, and one bank in the country has told customers to switch off the fingerprint recognition option to log into its services until the issue was fixed. The woman first noticed the issue after buying a gel screen protector on eBay.
After installing it, her left thumb could unlock the device despite not being registered. She then found her husband could unlock the smartphone as well.
