Panasonic Toughbook 55 is Modular and Customizable

Panasonic has unveiled a rugged notebook called the Toughbook 55, and the cool part is that it is highly modular. The design allows the user to replace and upgrade parts as needed. There are add on packs that allow the addition of new features down the road.

Add on packs let users add a fingerprint reader, a second storage drive, and upgrade RAM. The keyboard is also easy to replace as needed. The battery is hot-swappable to keep working as long as you need.

Battery life is up to 40 hours with multiple packs reports Engadget. The hardware includes an 8th gen Core i5 or i7. It also features USB-C, HDMI, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The machine has an array mic for voice recognition.

The touchscreen is 1,000 nit, and it can be fitted with up to 64GB of storage. The starting price is $2,099 with the cost of the upgrade modules a mystery for now.
