LG’s 8K OLED TV Launches in North America and Europe

We still don’t have much in the way of 4K content out there to enjoy, and 8K TVs are hitting the market. LG rolled out an 8K OLED big screen TV in South Korea back in June. It promises that TV would come to North America and Europe, and it has now launched.

The 8K OLED set is designed to meet the picture quality criteria of the Information Display Measurements Standard for making “Real 8K” images. The TV claims to have Contrast Modulation in the 90% range, which is much greater than the standards require reports New Atlas.

The 88Z9 88-inch 8K OLED TV has 33 million pixels and will be joined by a 75-inch 8K NanoCell TV. Both TV models have Cinema HDR, four HDMI 1.2 ports, and can upscale content to 8K using the Alpha 9 Gen 2 8K intelligence processor.

The new TVs will launch this month in over 140 global markets. The rollout will start in Australia, Germany, France, the UK, and the US. Pricing is a mystery, but an 88 inch 8K OLED TV will be expensive.
