Top Games in June Were Super Mario Maker and Crash Team Racing
The NPD Group has released the numbers for the game industry for June 2019. The numbers found that hardware sales are dropping fast for Microsoft and Sony with software sales flat. It’s no surprise to see hardware sales on the decline as both Sony and Microsoft are working on next-gen consoles.
Numbers show that spending across game hardware, software, accessories, and game cards reached $959 million for June 2019. That is a 13% decline from the same month of the previous year.
NPD also looked at the top games for the month. It notes that Nintendo doesn’t share first-party sales data. The top games were Super Mario Maker 2 and Crash Team Racing: Nitro fueled reports Venturebeat.
“Super Mario Maker 2 was June’s best-selling video game,” said Piscatella. “Super Mario Maker 2 set a new record high for launch month sales of a Mario Maker title, surpassing both the September 2015 release of Super Mario Maker and the December 2016 release of Super Mario Maker 3DS.”
