Intel Will Support Integer Scaling On Gen11 Graphics
Intel’s Gen11 graphics architecture is really raising the bar for what one can expect from integrated graphics. We just learned this morning that Intel can use integer multiplies for display scaling in Gen11 Graphics with a driver update coming around the end of August 2019. This is great news as the Intel Gen11 GPU design shares many similarities with the upcoming Intel Xe discrete graphics card set to launch in 2020.
Intel Gen9 graphics will not be able to support this feature as it lacks hardware support for nearest neighbor algorithms. To enable this feature without hardware support would have been too great of a performance hit.
This is great news and is a response to integer scaling questions from Intel’s last Reddit session! You can hear Lisa Pearce, Vice President, Intel Architecture, Graphics and Software Director, Visual Technologies Team, talk about integer scaling in her Tweet below.
