AMD Ryzen 9 3950X CPU Breaks Three Overclocking Records

The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-core, 32-thread processor isn’t out yet, but that hasn’t stopped AMD from using it to break some world records at E3 2019. AMD used the MSI X570 Godlike motherboard paired with a G.Skill Trident Z Royal DDR4 memory to get the most out of the Ryzen 9 3959X CPU. To help push the 3950X over 5GHz on all cores they pushed the yet to be released processor to the limits with LN2 cooling and some extra voltage in the UEFI. AMD Ryzen Master software was also used by those overclocking at the event.

There was a display at the event that showed AMD was trying to break the Cinebench R15, Cinebench R20, Geekbench 4 Multi, 3DMark 11 Physics and Y-Cruncher world records for 16-core processors. AMD beat the 16-core Intel Core i9-9960X (Skylake-X) processors world record score of 5,320 points with a score of 5,434 points. It also topped the Intel Core i7-7960X (Skylake-X) processors score of 10,895 points on Cinebench R20 with an impressive score of 12,167 points. The 3950X also topped the 7960X in Geekbench 4 Multi with a score of 65,499 that easily topped the old score of 60,991 points.

AMD came up a bit short in 3DMark 11 Physics, but it lost to the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X processor in that test and we don’t think AMD is going to lose sleep over that. AMD tried to dethrone the Intel Core i7-7960X score of 27.798 seconds in Y-cruncher, but came up about 5 seconds short in that test. It is tough to win them all!
