Seagate’s IronWolf 110 SSD is for NAS Use

Seagate has a new SSD that is aimed directly at use in network attached storage boxes. What’s as important as storage capacity for NAS drives is how much data can be written to them over time. Seagate’s new IronWolf 110 SSD is rated for 2TBW, or two TeraBytes Written, for every 1GB of capacity. That is two-four times more than a normal consumer drive.

The endurance is specifically to make the SSD work in NAS devices where it will see heavier workloads. The SSD can be used in your average computer too if a user wants very reliable storage.

The largest of the IronWolf 110 SSDs is 3.82TB in capacity for $980, a 1.92TB version is $490, a 960 GB version is $276, a 480GB version is $148, and the 240GB is $93. All those prices are via Amazon.

The drives are all 2.5-inch form factor and will fit inside most desktops and some laptop computers. They use SATA 6Gbps interface and are 7mm thick.
