Epic Games’ Tim Sweeney Challenges Steam

Gamers have been angry at Epic Games and the Epic Games store because it is signing up exclusives and gamers are having to go outside Steam to get games they want. Epic Games has caught some heat over its push for exclusive games, and Tim Sweeney has now challenged Steam.

Sweeney says that the Epic Games Store will stop pursuing exclusive games if Steam will pay developers a bigger cut of profits. Sweeney issued the challenge via twitter reports Kotaku.

If Steam committed to a permanent 88% revenue share for all developers and publishers without major strings attached, Sweeney wrote, Epic would hastily organize a retreat from exclusives (while honoring our partner commitments) and consider putting our own games on Steam.

Games are coming to the Epic Games Store in part because of the money paid to get the game as an exclusive. However, devs want their games on the Epic Games Store because it shares more profits with them.
