Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 RAM Debuts
Corsair has announced a new line of RAM for PC gamers, and enthusiasts called the Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 memory. The RAM uses an aluminum heat spreader, hand sorted memory chips, and offers frequencies up to 4,800 MHz. The RAM uses a 10-layer PCB for signal quality and stability. Each of the chips is hand-sorted and screened for fast response times and high-frequency performance.
Kits are offered that run from 3,000 MHz to 4,800MHz, still with headroom for overclocking. Corsair uses the Dual-Path DHX cooling technology using an aluminum heat spreader and copper planes embedded in the PCB. A zinc-alloy top band has 12 ultra-bright Capellix RGB LEDs.
This type of LED is brighter and use less power with more efficiency than other LEDs. That allows the LEDs to glow without impacting performance. There are dozens of pre-set light profiles and users can create custom patterns via iCUE. Lighting can also be synced with other iCUE products.
Corsair says that the RAM kits are available right now via retailers and the Corsair website. A 16GB kit of 3,000 MHz sticks is $159.99; pricing jumps massively for the 4,800MHz kit at $864.99. There are several steps between that base and high-end speed. The biggest kit is a 128GB offering at 3,600 mAh for $1,564.99.
