Apple wants to get rid of all the external suppliers it can and make components for its devices in house. Going in house is part of Apple’s drive to squeeze all the profits and margins from its product lines possible. As part of this deal, reports indicate that Intel expects Apple to transition away from its processors next year.

Reports claim that Intel is expecting Apple to transition to its ARM chips for Mac computers starting next year. This isn’t the first time that rumors have hinted Apple is soon moving to ARM chips developed in house reports 9to5Mac.

The transition will likely pose some challenges for Apple, assuming the rumor is true. One challenge is that with the install base of Intel-powered Macs out there Apple will need to be sure that its future Mac OSX software is compatible with both Intel and ARM chips.

Apple is also tipped to roll out software that allows developers to create a single app that works with all Apple hardware. That would mean one app to run on Mac OSX and iOS.
