PS4 Surpasses Xbox 360 Sales Record

The PS4 hit the market back in 2013 and has been the most popular of the consoles in this generation. It has now surpassed the number of sales the Xbox 360 racked up during its tenure as the most popular console of the last generation. The PS4 passed the lifetime sales numbers for the Xbox 360 recently.

So far the PS4 has sold 86.15 million units in its life reports Comicbook. The Xbox 360 sold over 85.80 million units since it launched. The PS4 is still being made, and its numbers will continue to grow.

In Europe, the PS4 has sold particularly well racking up 34.77 million units compared to the 25.87 million Xbox 360s sold there. In the US, the PS4 has yet to pull ahead of the Xbox 360 with the 360 selling 45.14 million units here compared to the 26.33 million PS4s sold.

Japan is where the PS4 vastly outsold the Xbox 360. Japanese PS4 sales numbers total 7.21 million units compared to the 1.67 million Xbox 360 consoles sold. The assumption is that PS4 Pro numbers are included in these sales figures, but that isn’t clear.
