There is no way to verify the accuracy of this story, but a person who claims to be an ex Treyarch employee turned up on Reddit recently and dropped some tidbits about Black Ops 4. The most significant tidbit that the poster claims is that Black Ops 4 originally had a co-op campaign. The source claims that the campaign mode was worked on until mid-2017 before being scrapped to focus on multiplayer and Zombies modes. Details on that alleged campaign mode were scarce in the post, but the poster claims that five different missions had been created and the campaign would have been a 2v2 co-op race to finish the missions.
